Nine thresholds for men who have gone missing inside the life they built. Walked with brothers, live, one week at a time.
You provide. You keep the commitments. People trust you with hard things. And somewhere along the way you stopped consulting the man who is doing all of it.
Most men don't come to this work because their life collapsed. They come because it's functioning, and they still feel like something essential has gone missing inside it.
No affair, no shouting. Just two people who stopped reaching for each other.
Sleep, energy, weight, a number from the doctor. You've been running on empty and calling it discipline.
To everyone. Then the resentment shows up, and you don't know where it came from.
The sale, the promotion, the house. You arrived and nothing was waiting there.
Knowing about boundaries never kept one. A man changes when he does the hard thing in real life and another man sees him do it.
| What most men have tried | What happens here |
|---|---|
| Books, podcasts and seven-step videos | One threshold a week, practiced in your actual life and witnessed by a brother |
| Men's groups that stay on the surface | Small groups that get real in a hurry, with agreements that make it safe to |
| Anonymous forums and comment threads | A circle of men who know your name and notice when you've changed |
| A coach you see once a week | A weekly Gathering, a brother you call, and a companion that's there at 11 pm |
| Programs that shame you into action | Challenge without contempt. You are not defective. You were never initiated. |
From abandoning yourself, to holding your center, to giving your strength to what matters most.
Tell the truth about where you are and own what's yours.
Care for the body your life depends on.
Stop trading for approval. Ask straight, give freely.
Find the man underneath what you learned to perform.
Stay steady when pressure comes, and return when you lose it.
Bring warmth and truth into the same conversation.
Name what you're for in this season, and take the first step.
A few real priorities, a weekly review, a man who sees it.
Build what keeps giving after you leave the room.
Every week, live on Zoom. A short teaching, then 25 minutes in a small group of three or four men, then the whole circle together.
One call a week with another man walking the same road. Some of the deepest friendships start right here.
One real action in ordinary life each week. Write what happened. A brother reads it and responds. That's how a threshold is crossed.
An AI companion that knows the road and where you are on it. On your side, and honest enough to point you to the part you can own.
Your home base online: this week's page, your brothers, your record of what's changed, and the Cafe, an open room for whenever you need a man to talk to.
The Masculine Journey book walks beside you, a chapter or two a week, for the man who wants to go deeper.
At the end of the ninth threshold, men who have walked the whole road and been witnessed by their brothers are commissioned Spirit Warriors and receive the crest. The sword of the Spirit and the helmet of salvation. It doesn't make you better than anyone. It reminds you what you're now responsible for.
An entrepreneur, speaker and author in personal development and relationship coaching. After a successful career in the computer industry, the 2008 crash brought a personal crisis, and he turned his life toward helping men build their legacies and more meaningful relationships. He wrote LEGACY: Live with Purpose, Find Fulfillment, Be Remembered and hosts the Legacy Podcast. Since 2012 his nonprofit, Abundance International, has supported orphanages in Ukraine. The teaching and the threshold names on this road are his.
An AI entrepreneur. He founded CleanConnect.ai, an AI company that helps the natural gas industry find and measure methane emissions. Before that he launched Windows NT Magazine in 1995 and grew it to readers in 160 countries and 13 languages. He built The Armory and the AI companion inside it, and he's walking the road with the founding men. He and his wife live in Gilbert, Arizona.
Nine weeks, starting this winter. Founding men help shape what this becomes for every man after them.
Be one of the first men to walk The Masculine Journey, live with Marcum Davis and Mark Smith, and help shape it for every man who comes after you.
I'll show up to the Gathering. I'll do the weekly practice in my real life. I'll call my brother. And at the end, I'll give an honest account of what this was for me, whatever it was.
Every founding man makes this commitment before week one. Your honest testimonial helps the next man decide. Nothing is shared without your permission.| Week | Threshold | What you'll practice |

Nine weeks is the first pass. Fully crossing all nine thresholds takes most men about a year, and the founding cohort is where that year begins.
We've both spent years in the men's world. We've read the books, sat in the groups, and paid for the programs. A lot of it helped. Most of it stayed on the surface, or handed us information and left us alone with it.
This is the room we wanted. Men who tell the truth. A road that goes all the way down to who you are, and then gives your strength somewhere to go. And brothers who are still there on the hard Tuesday.
If that's what you're looking for, apply. We'll talk first, and we'll tell you honestly whether this is the right fit.
Marcum and Mark
It's rooted in faith. We believe a man's worth was given by God before he ever had to earn it. You don't have to share our faith to walk the road, and we'll never turn it into church. When you want to go deeper into the why, it's there.
No. It's men's work: teaching, practice, and brotherhood. If you're dealing with something that needs a counselor or a doctor, we'll encourage you to get that help, and the journey can walk alongside it.
About two hours for the weekly Gathering, a short call with your brother, and one practice you do inside the life you already have. It's built to fit a real week.
Life happens. You can catch up on the teaching in the Armory, and your brother will help you pick back up. What matters is that you keep walking.
No. Any man can pass. Most men find they want to share once they've heard a few others go first. What's said in the circle stays in the circle.
Yes. The road is about who you are as a man. Relationships are part of it, and the work applies whether you're married, single, or starting over.
There are good ones out there. Some are year-long men's academies run through a church, with teaching, books and accountability. Some are online brotherhoods built around recovering from the nice-guy pattern, with groups and coaching on a membership. We respect both, and some of us have been through them. Three things set this one apart. It's a road with a finish: nine thresholds, each crossed only when you live it and another man sees it. It holds faith and the hard relational work together, so you deal with what's going on in your marriage and your gut, not just your theology or your habits. And it doesn't stop at getting free. The last three thresholds are about direction, order, and giving your strength away.
Probably, yes. A lot of men finish a good program and ask, "Now what?" This is built for that man. What you've already learned isn't wasted. Here you put it to work, one threshold at a time, with men watching for it.
No. Everything meets live on Zoom. The men near Gilbert will also get together in person at the end of the first cohort.
You get a 30-day plan and a reunion, and founding men get first access, at founding pricing, to what comes next on the year-long road.
Yes. Your companion conversations are private unless you choose to share them, and your record belongs to you.
Apply below. It's three questions. Then we'll set up a short conversation about what brings you here, where you want to see real change, and whether you can make room for it. Rather talk first? Email Mark at mark@markhoustonsmith.com.
About five minutes. We read every application, and one of us will set up a short call. It's how we make sure this is the right room for you, and you for it. Nothing here is shared outside the two of us.
